Silver Award

The Silver Award is the highest honor that a Cadette Girl Scout (ages 11 - 14)  can earn and requires a minimum of 45 hours work.  Our Troop decided to all chose the same topic for their Silver Award - to make a difference across the nation to reduce the suffering of dogs.

During the summer of 2012 we worked to publicize a federal rule, that if adopted, would require inspections of puppy mills that sell dogs over the internet.  They aren't currently inspected just because the inspection rules were written before the internet existed!  You can read about our work on the federal rule by clicking here.
